Dalcroze UK International Spring Course 8th – 10th April 2024 (Registration 7th April 2024)

Save the Date!

Dalcroze UK’s International Spring Course will take place 8th – 10th April 2024 at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, United Kingdom. Registration will be from early evening on Sunday 7th April followed by a drinks reception. It will be a fantastic three-day course, bursting with great experiences of rhythmics, aural and improvisation classes alongside workshops and performances.

Dr Karin Greenhead is the Course Director and is delighted to welcome back Eugenia Arus, Diplômé Supérieur, Institut Jaques-Dalcroze as our international guest teacher and Kaye Barker, Diplômé Supérieur, Institut Jaques-Dalcroze from the UK. Our movement specialist will be Ruth Jones who will teach each morning on the course.

The Spring Course is an integral part of the Dalcroze Eurhythmics International Examination Board (DEIEB) training, and we are excited that we have three cohorts of trainees who will be present in Manchester: Foundation, Intermediate and Licence students. This is the first time, for a few years, due to the loss of training during Covid, that we will see three levels of teacher training represented at the course. It is expected that course participants will be treated to performances by Licence students who offer a 15 – minute recital on their chosen instrument as one of the ten exams required by this award.

If you have not visited the Royal Northern College of Music then you will be impressed by its facilities and its location which is only 10 minutes or so from the centre of Manchester. The city is accessible both by train and its international airport.

Keep an eye on the Dalcroze UK website as registration will be available very soon and do share this information with friends and anybody you think will be interested in learning more about Dalcroze Eurhythmics.

Dalcroze UK International Summer School 5th – 10th August 2024

Save the Date!

This course will take place at another UK conservatoire, this time the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, Wales. The Summer School lasts longer than the Spring Course so allows more chance of immersion and reflection in Dalcroze Eurhythmics.

Although it is not a mandatory course to attend for trainees, it is nevertheless a welcome chance to revise skills and meet old and new friends between the end of the training year in May or early June and the start of the new academic year in September 2024.

Jacqueline Vann is the Artistic Director of the Course, and more details will be shared in the next few weeks.

We look forward to seeing you at both courses!
