Intensive Training Entry requirements
- Fluency in reading music
- Ability to sing in tune
- Ability to participate in classes involving full body movement
- Basic skills in playing a harmonic instrument if the first instrument is melodic or voice
- Good skills in instrumental performance.
- Possession of the Foundation Award in Dalcroze Eurhythmics (DEIEB)
- Fluency in reading music in treble and bass clefs
- Ability to sing in tune
- Ability to engage in classes involving full body movement
- Good instrumental skills
- An appropriate standard of piano playing and a willingness to take lessons if advised that this is necessary.
- Possession of a DEIEB Intermediate Award passed within the previous 3 years. Alternative training may be accepted. An entrance assessment and additional study may be required in some areas of the curriculum especially if there has been a long gap in training.
- A clear singing voice with good intonation
- Ease in performing rhythmics exercises with good coordination
- An ability to respond to the expressive power of sound; a good dynamic and expressive range in movement and music making
- Sound piano technique and an ability to play for rhythmics and incite a response in movement
- Security in harmonic knowledge to intermediate level
- Good communication skills and an ability to work well with others
- An ability to describe Dalcroze exercises and their purposes accurately, to plan and to create sequences in movement and improvisation.
