Discover the joy of music through movement! Join us for a Discover Dalcroze Day and experience music in a whole new way. Whether you’re a musician, dancer, or just curious, everyone is welcome!
Dalcroze UK invites you to join in a fantastic, free day of discovery into Dalcroze Eurhythmics on Sunday 19th October 2025 at the prestigious music academy Haberdashers’ Hatcham College, 135 Pepys Road, New Cross, London, SE14 5SF.
The event is free to attend!
Whether you are a teacher with students, a musician, or a performer, Dalcroze Eurhythmics aims to provide you with an experience of how it can help you develop a deeper connection and understanding of music by engaging with it directly through the body.
Dalcroze is beneficial and transformative for all kinds of people, including children, students, adults, seniors, musicians, teachers, dancers, performers, and actors. It is an effective and joyful way to learn music. It is also freeing, boosts confidence, and helps develop a variety of skills needed to become confident, collaborative musicians, performers, or artists.
The principles of Dalcroze emphasise using movement as a tool to understand music elements, not through thought and patterns, but through sensory experience, feeling, and creativity. Musical rhythm is a direct expression of the human spirit. The Dalcroze method aims to create harmony between the body and mind by using sensory experience to support thought with feeling. The body then acts as the site of that experience and expresses it physically. There are three branches of this expression that Jaques-Dalcroze designed to apply and develop this approach: Rhythmics, Aural Training, and Improvisation. The Discover Dalcroze Day will provide an opportunity to learn about and engage with each branch.
“Wow! That was mind-blowing. What a way to get inside the music”.
