Description

This film contains the presentation given at the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze, Geneva, by trainee teachers for the Royal Northern College of Music and their teacher Karin Greenhead (Director of Studies UK).It demonstrates the practical application of general movement and Dalcroze techniques to the teaching of string playing and musicianship and covers pre-instrumental training for the very young through the first year of instrumental study to applications in the teaching of bowing techniques for more advanced players. The film also contains a realisation of a piece of musical repertoire in movement (Plastique Animee) and Karin Greenhead’s Dynamic Rehearsal technique with a solo viola player and a string quartet.
