Presented by Mary Price O’Connor and Dr Selma Odom

This workshop will explore a group Plastique Animeé with a group of participants filming the end product to add to the archive of Dalcroze works.

Participants will work with ‘ Dawn ‘ from the Four Sea Interludes by Britten.

The session will start off with a warm up, inviting participants to explore fully the possibilities of movement over zoom whilst using the environment and limitations of space to explore their movement vocabulary, dancing together and involvement of the camera as audience. We then ‘ Move to listen’ and use images as prompts drawn by participants during listening to inform the next steps.

Finally, we will explore in movement the various elements from the piece and as a group collaboration, exploring instant unison as far as Zoom will allow. We will draw on themes and create a movement piece that is unique to the participants and the medium they are working with. The end result will be filmed.

Requirements

A laptop will be the best way to experience the workshop. Participants will need to be dressed in clothes suitable for movement. Anyone not happy to be filmed can be a part of the creative process but for the final film will be hidden from the filming. Participants may use a wide angle lens for their laptop or other device. Participants would need to bring paper and pencils/pens/chalk to draw.

There will be a reflection of what works and participants would also gain an understanding of how to use Zoom for Plastique Animeé in their teaching – Selma and Mary would like to invite participants to a follow up reflection session a few weeks after the event.
