Intensive Training – Weekends In London

The weekend intensive training programme will take place in South East London.

Taught in modules, eight weekends in a year plus 3 days at our Spring Course in Manchester, it attracts talented artists and educators from across the UK, as well as Europe, Asia and North America. The training consists of practical classes in rhythmics, aural training (solfa/solfège) and improvisation, the principles and practice of Dalcroze Eurhythmics and related studies.

This year we are offering places on Intermediate and Professional Certificate levels;

Studies for the Intermediate Award build on Foundation training. By this time students are usually applying what they are learning to their own work. Following successful completion of the Intermediate Award candidates are entitled to advertise that they apply Dalcroze principles and practices in the context of their own profession (as a piano teacher, class teacher, therapist etc.). The intermediate award also consists of 8 training weekends, our Spring Course, and an exam weekend.

Completion of the Professional Certificate requires a third year of training and the final exams include teaching exams in addition to personal practical exams and a substantial written submission.

Holders of the Professional Certificate are entitled to advertise that they hold a professional qualification in teaching Dalcroze Eurhythmics.

A qualification in Dalcroze Eurhythmics had always been on my to-do list, so I jumped at the chance to sign up for the Foundation intensive training weekend course last September. Best thing I’ve done in years!  Motivational and inspiring teaching – lot of ideas and material to work with, skills to develop and apply.  Loved the rhythmics classes and the whole body conducting in particular.  I’ve made good progress in improvisation. Great atmosphere, nice surroundings, and learning with a group of people I now consider to be my friends – highly recommend.
