Intensive Training – Weekends in Warwick

Warwick

The intensive training in Warwick specialises in the Foundation Award and takes place as a weekend programme.

The new training venue in Warwick, launched in January 2025, delivered a successful programme of weekend intensive training designed to be delivered in modules over two terms, rather than three. This new, shortened, intensive course will run again in 2026, over six weekends from January to June 2026. The course suits both professionals and students with a background in music education and performance, and other artists, such as dancers or actors, with a sound understanding of music who can more easily travel to the Midlands.

The Dalcroze UK Intensive Training Courses attract talented artists and educators from across the UK, as well as from Europe, Asia, and North America. The programme at Warwick includes online sessions and face-to-face practical classes in rhythmics, aural training (solfa/solfège), and improvisation, covering the principles and practice of Dalcroze Eurhythmics and related studies.

The Foundation Award at the Warwick training centre will comprise five face-to-face practical training weekends, five online sessions, our Spring Course in Birmingham in 2026, and an exam weekend. If an accredited award is required, candidates can take practical exams in rhythmics, aural training, and improvisation, and submit written work. Upon successfully passing the exams, they receive an accredited Foundation Award and can then move on to the Intermediate Year, if they choose.

Classes are taught by Jacqueline Vann, a holder of the Diplôme Supérieur, and other supporting teachers throughout the year.

“The Foundation course has completely changed the way I think about music and movement. It was inspiring, fun, and incredibly useful both as a musician and as a teacher. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to bring creativity and depth into their teaching.”
