World-Class Training in Music & Movement

Whether you’re discovering Dalcroze or seeking professional qualifications, Dalcroze UK offers quality courses with expert practitioners.

Foundation

This is the first level of training in Dalcroze Eurhythmics for adults. The course consists of classes in rhythmic movement, aural training, improvisation and principles of the Dalcroze method (reading and written reflections). It is suitable for those with a musical background and an interest in learning through physical engagement. The ability to sing and play a musical instrument/voice is essential. Basic piano skills are desirable. Some experience in a movement practice or dance is advantageous but not essential.

Dalcroze UK runs a monthly intensive weekend training programme in Croydon, London, leading to the Foundation Award of the DEIEB.

The same course runs in Edinburgh and Manchester on a weekly basis.

Thanks a million for all of your fabulous sessions through the foundation course! You showed us a new world of music. It was a priceless experience.

Yuki, Foundation student (Croydon, 2013)
Doing the Dalcroze foundation course has completely changed the way I teach as well as my whole outlook on experiencing music. I have loved it!

Gemma, Foundation student (Manchester, 2013)

Intermediate

The second level of training in Dalcroze Eurhythmics offered to adults builds on the Foundation course. In addition to deepening practical skills in rhythmic movement, aural training and improvisation, students will develop the connection between music and movement on a creative level. Teaching skills are also introduced. There is greater emphasis on written work, which will form part of the Certificate portfolio, should a student continue through the training system.

In exceptional circumstances (e.g. with prior learning experience), students without a Foundation Award may be considered for the Intermediate course.

Dalcroze UK runs an intensive weekend training programme in Croydon, London, which incorporates the Intermediate Award of the DEIEB.

The same course runs in Edinburgh and Manchester on a weekly basis.
